Property taxes are up 75% after inflation in the past 10 years.  This is excessive and more than 3 times the rate of inflation.  With property value increases, we should be awash in cash.

Our Council needs to stop approving increases in our property taxes and utility bills, touting the merits of each increase and how little each costs like the mobility bond and composting.  One constituent bemoaned, “It’s death by a thousand cuts!”  Our Council needs to say “No” a lot more often on proposals that raise our taxes.

I will lobby the Legislature to cap annual residential tax increases at 5% versus 10% currently.
